Palo Alto (22 Sep 1999) – Kx Systems, a pioneer in high performance vector-based technology, announces the release of Kdb 2.0, the latest upgrade to its relational database management system extended for time series. The upgrade provides enhanced connectivity and Web capability.

“Kdb is the only relational database product in the marketplace that lets end-users pose ad hoc time series queries on millions of rows with subsecond response without caching and precalculating. With Kdb 2.0 we are adding greater connectivity and ease of use for distributed computing over the Web,” says Kx CEO Janet Lustgarten. “Our customers choose Kdb because no one else is better at synthesizing the relational framework with the time dimension.”

Kdb 2.0 has an enhanced version of the industry standard Structured Query Language (ANSI-SQL/92) called KSQL. KSQL enables time series analysis and other high performance analytics in the database.

The new features in Kdb 2.0 are:

  1. One Click Web Publishing.
With one mouse click, you can make your Kdb database accessible to others over the Web.
  2. One Click Data Loading.
With one click, Kdb accepts any Microsoft® Access file, as well as tables and databases from csv, txt, dbf and Microsoft Excel.
  3. Simple High-Speed Connectivity.
Kdb connects to ODBC and JDBC, and it has a high-speed bulk interface with one entry point from Java, Visual Basic and C.
  4. SQL/92 and Time Series.
With Kdb you can pose queries in SQL/92 and KSQL.
