PALO ALTO, CA (27 March 2018) KX Systems announces that it has released a subscription-based version of kdb+, its core technology. Kdb+ on demand has a new flexible pricing model which makes it widely accessible to programmers for all uses. This model is available for use on premises, as well as to meet the rising demand for implementations on the Cloud, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft and IBM. Additionally, a personal edition of 64-bit kdb+ on-demand for non-commercial use is now available at no cost.

Kdb+ is a time-series database for use with streaming, in-memory and historical data, with a built-in programming language called q. It is known for its record-breaking speed when performing complex analytics on extremely large datasets. Widely used in financial services, kdb+ is also increasingly being used in other industries with streaming Big Data business applications.

The full 64-bit version of kdb+ is now available on demand for either commercial customers or for non-commercial use and can be run on any computer anywhere*, from a laptop to the Cloud. Kdb+ on demand is charged on a per core minute basis instead of, or in combination with, the standard per core or enterprise models. Combined with KX’s Fusion initiative, which enables kdb+ to work seamlessly with many popular programming languages and technologies, kdb+ on demand vastly widens the user community for kdb+.

Quote from Mark Sykes, KX COO about kdb+ on demand: “We are delighted to be able to extend the range of licensing options for our kdb+ product.  Kdb+ on demand allows users to run any scale system on a highly cost effective and elastic per core minute basis, the user is in total control of their internal costs. This initiative, coupled with our new integrations with Python, Jupyter and various machine learning libraries, removes any barriers for developers who use either q, or other languages, and want to start getting the benefits of kdb+ that are enjoyed by our existing clients.”

Information on the various licensing options available can be seen on the KX license page on kx.com.

The personal edition of 64-Bit kdb+ on demand has been made available for non-commercial use at no cost, and can be downloaded from ondemand.kx.com. If you are interested in using 64-bit on-demand kdb+ in a commercial environment please email ondemand@kx.com for further details.
