Webinar Overview

In our recent summer webinar (Part I), we focused on FERC order 2222 and the North American Energy Markets, overcoming the barriers to adopt Distributed Energy Resources. We also addressed the need for a viable Distribution System Operator (DSO) model to drive this change.

In this fall webinar we did a deeper dive into the DSO and the role they will play to ensure grid resilience and reliability, while driving decarbonization and democratization of energy that flows through their network.

Our session focused on several challenges ahead of us:

  • How does a DSO balance the need to decarbonize with grid resiliency and reliability goals?
  • How the regulations and legislations at both state and federal levels are requiring and enabling a traditional T&D utility to better adapt and transform towards a 21st century DSO?
  • What data will have to be shared to facilitate this new market and how can DSOs leverage advanced data modeling capabilities to better manage their interoperation with the modernized grid?
  • How will the role of the aggregator as visualized in the order be implemented and how will this impact DSO functions?
  • How distribution utilities develop a blueprint for the digital metamorphosis required to become a DSO?
