Palo Alto (16 Jun 2000) – Appian Corporation, a leader in online personalization and database optimization, and Kx Systems, developers of Kdb, the ultra high performance relational database, announced a strategic alliance today.
Appian and Kx have made reciprocal commitments to foster future business development for both firms. Over the next two months, Appian will train a portion of its consulting force in Kx technology. Kx will help to place those consultants into Kdb implementations worldwide. This agreement validates Kx’s ongoing emergence as a standard, and Appian’s strong presence in technologies, which comprise and support online personalization.
“We consider it our business, as experts in personalization, to master those technical disciplines which facilitate the finest personalization implementations. Most personalization is like a dialogue with the user: to be effective it must occur in real-time, facilitated by a top-speed database. Kx makes a world class top-speed database,” said Matt Calkins, President and CEO of Appian Corporation.
“Having Appian join us as a business development partner validates Kdb’s performance in Internet applications, and it introduces us to companies seeking state of the art personalization solutions,” said Janet Lustgarten, President and CEO of Kx. “We particularly appreciate Appian’s high standards for implementation and integration. This is the type of consulting firm that can make a long lasting contribution to a client’s infrastructure, and with Kdb, give them a significant edge in the marketplace.”
