About

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our next NYC meetup on Thursday 15th August.

Expert kdb+ programmer Steve Wirts will present his kdb+ music/software project with internationally renowned jazz saxophonist George Garzone (who will also perform).

Using kdb+, Steve generates music using the George Garzone Triadic Chromatic Approach (TCA). TCA is an approach to music improvisation that is taught at the Berklee School of Music, among other places, to enrich students’ musical vocabulary by exploring alternatives to traditional techniques. Through analysis and performance exercises, students learn to improvise a free melodic line over structured harmonic continuity — focusing on the triad—major, minor, augmented, and diminished—as the building blocks for fluid, nonrepetitive chromatic lines.

Notice:

This Meetup is for kdb+ programmers and others interested in kdb+ to learn and network only. It is not open to recruiters or vendors, except by explicit invitation.
